Ive been checking and changing some of the 194 bulbs. The instruments are still difficult to read. Is there any substitute for these bulbs that will fit in the little holders and perhaps give more light.
On a separate note I have been changing some of the air lines. lost confidence in the modern push on connectors. I will be resorting to the old style 1/4 inch fittings for future changes. If anyone is looking for a simplified drawing of the air system drop me a line. (In another life I used to convert schematics to data flow diagrams).

I used the green LED version available on ebay for my instrument lights and it made them a lot brighter without the glare from direct view of the diodes. I think there are 9 diodes on each one. They do not dim very well at all, just a little before they turn off. In the factory locations they have never been so bright that I needed to dim them anyway. I don't have the link on this machine, but will edit the post later from the one with that information unless somebody else chimes in. They are the 4-sided variety with one on the end. I also use the blue colored ones in the low voltage lighting out on the sidewalk.

Hah, didn't even look at that date this time(it's not the same vendor I bought from), but I must correct myself on an earlier posting, as I just went to my supply of bulbs and found that the LEDs that I got were the ones with 5 LEDs on each, not the 9 LED version I indicated. Maybe the blue ones had the double sides with 9 diodes on each "bulb". They are in a remote location from here installed in the low-voltage lighting system, so height doesn't matter in that application. It might matter in the instrument lights, but the ones with 5 diodes each work well in there on the GMC. Do not put the dash back together before verifying that they are installed and working, because the LEDs have to have the correct polarity. If it doesn't light, flip it over in the socket.
