OK, I'm finally replacing the headliner. It was at the top of my list when we bought the coach four years ago but life (and a new engine, transmission, wheel bearings, fuel tanks, air conditioning, rear suspension, etc.) intervened.

Is it possible to remove the plastic strip between the walls and the ceiling without destroying it? It's not as brittle as I expected. I can get a 1" chisel behind it and twist it 45 degrees or so but I feel that I am at it's breaking point. I know there is a Panduit replacement (anyone have the part number handy?) but if I can use the original I would prefer it. It is pretty yellow, though. Not sure if that was the original color or if it has yellowed over the years. If I can get it out without destroying it I might try to paint it.

Go to Gene's site and check the links to "how to remove the old cover"

Rip it out, Darryl. It ain't worth foolin with. Panduit cover works good. A strip of under pinning for a trailer house works good
too. I just covered a piece of 1/4" plywood with ceiling material and fastened it with screws. Looks a lot better than that OEM
stuff.

Yellow from age. Should, with little care, snap off. Paint with Fusion paint.

If you do decide to reuse the original plastic, take a look at this site to restore the original color rather than paint.

You can also use this technique to restore your window trim plus your front and back caps.

Should pop right out. I used 3/16 abs plastic with a hair or pebble finish
to replace the head liner. Bulletproof!

FWIW, this is what I used for headliner. Sturdy, waterproof, and adds a R3 insulation value to the roof. Thin enough that it slides into those ceiling rails. I cut it large, and trimmed until it just "popped" up into place. No screws or fasteners. JWID

If I ever had to do it again ( NO! NO! NO!)

That is what I would use.
