Bob, that little fiber optic strip is unobtanium. Mice did not chew it up, it just deteriorated over the past 40 years. Replacement is either very small leds behind each switch, or electroluminescent tape. Both methods have been done by various people. Both methods are in the photo site.
When Radio Shack still existed, you could get the electroluminescent tape and 12v inverter needed for around $25. I have no current source for these parts. No Radio Shack still exists around here.

Me too. Len’s kit was one of the first projects I did to the coach and it’s a quick, feel good, project that you’ll remember every time you turn on the lights!
