Gene,

Sorry for the long winded response below.

A while back I went down to Adelaide and visited Peter Bailey; he and I put together a step by step procedure, with photos :-),
showing how to center the steering gear. We used information that was learned from Dave Lenzi and Alex Ferrara. Peter has two GMC's
(one LHD one RHD) both of which have the OEM steering gear installed. IT WORKED PERFECTLY. To validate the procedure I sent it to
Steve Southwood but for some reason when he followed the steps he got a different result.

My RHD GMC here in Sydney uses a Saginaw steering gear BUT it is out of a Cadillac and while it also is a Saginaw the way it is
installed I can't use it to figger out why Steve had a problem.

I will be centering the steering gear on the Kingsley that I purchased from Kerry Pinkerton with Chuck Boyd before I drive it to the
GMCMI Convention in Dothan and hopefully I can figger out why Steve got a different result.

The procedure assembles the lower steering column according to an illustration in the MM which worked fine in Peter's GMC's but
didn't work when Steve tried it, the clocking came out different.

My talk will consist of two parts, a "lecture" session followed by a hands on session on Gary Bovee's GMC. I have sent the procedure
to Gary, he is going to try it on his GMC and see what happens when he does his.

There's really nothing anyone can do to their GMC to get ready for the talk, I believe that after going through it twice they will
be able to do it at home easily. John Sharpe and I tried to video Alex Ferrara aligning a steering box at a GMCMI Convention but it
didn't work out well as everybody wanted to see what we were doing and the cameraman got in the way.

I would suggest that going through this procedure to determine the condition of the entire steering system would be a good idea:

Looking forward to seeing you in Temecula.

PS - For the record I don't want to distribute the procedure Peter and I wrote until I am 100% sure it will work 100% correctly 100%
of the time on 100% of the coaches!
