Over at FB, a new owner of a '74 can't ID the model. They'll work it out. But, according to the GMC Registry "If the motorhome was furnished with a GMC interior, the label in the glovebox identifies the interior finish model, except for '73 & '74 models." So, how do we identify the original model, particularly if it's been significantly remodeled over the years?

You can tell it is a 73 because the driver is laughing as he goes by a
California DMV smog test station :)

If the coach happens to be in the registry, the model is usually recorded there.
If the interior is extensively replaced you may still find original carpet remnants either under the frig or under the bath module. It seems the modules were set down on the carpet. Then link the carpet to the model per Bill Bryant's interior color palette on the photo site.

If it was a GM furnished model it would not have been a Transmode. If the 4th digit is a 3 it was a Transmode and fitted by someone else.

According to the production numbers there weren't transmodes in 73/74.

The 1973 & 1974 Service Parts Identification (glove box sticker) did not identify the name of the models on the sticker in 1973-74.
The early 1973s also left the sequence number blank e.g. TZE063V(blank) until sequence ~500 (~V100500). Then it was typed in until ~2200 when the complete 6 digit sequence number was completely printed.
Other information such as build date, color, options, etc were shown on all years stickers.
Model years 1975 through 1978 listed the model name on the sticker for GMC interiors as well as the details noted above. TransModes were only listed as TransModes( upfitters usually stuck their ID someplace on a cabinet), Coachmen actually stamped their serial number on the right rear bumper bracket.
The Parrot Green (73 Sequoia color only) was the only single model color along with the lighter interior wood color, other colors were available on multiple models for 73-74.
As noted, about the only way to determine a 73-74 original model of a modified coach is to look for rug or upholstery samples trapped under modules or furniture.
Good luck,
Bill

Interesting--how could a coach be an upfitter coach unless it was built as a Transmode?
