So before our trip I fired up the Onan for its weekly exercise. I heard a horrible clinking noise and went to check on the problem. Found the exhaust bracket was loose to the point of falling off. I tightened up the exhaust bracket, assuming the problem was solved, fired up the generator, and heard an incredible roar. I know Onans are loud, but this was ridiculous. Pulled it back out of its home and immediately saw the problem.
The exhaust had come loose from the manifold. It appears the flange that goes into the manifold simply rotted, rusted, and vibrated apart, probably not helped by the loose bracket. Any thoughts on how to fix this problem? I'm wondering if I should just up and buy a new exhaust for the Onan as otherwise it is running great, but I guess I need to find someone to do the work.
Thanks,
