I am thinking about getting one of those cargo carriers that are mounted onto the trailer hitch receiver. I'm concerned about the carrier hitting the ground as the our coaches ride pretty low. Anyone have any experience using one on a GMC?

George, I have used one on my through the bumper hitch without issue. It is enough higher than the back of the coach that it did not drag. However, my air system (Power Level) is fully functional and I use it to raise the rear of the coach pretty much whenever I am off of a highway and on surface streets or driving at lower speeds. That keeps my frame off the road when I enter and exit driveways to gas stations or parking lots.

George,

I have one of those too. We use it often. I have had the 500#+ on it and the suspension handles it just fine. Our coach is a 23, but that is not that different.
Oh, and our rear suspension works too. I have never bothered to raise it in town.

I also have one on a Blaine Merrill through the bumper receiver that I occasionally use.

No problems using one on a Blaine Merrill through the bunper hitch. I highly recommend this hitch. I also use a motorcycle carrier on it with a total weight of about 400 pounds.

We carry the same model HD hitch and it will not drag on the ground as it
comes straight out the middle of the pumper plate and well designed.
