The more I am watching the SE Mich group organize their "Lunch Bunch"
gathering, the more I think it's a great idea! I would hope that the idea
could be transferred to other areas of the country too.

I hereby propose a Sacramento Area GMC Lunch Bunch as well! Or would we call
it the NorCal GMC Lunch Bunch? Ideas?

Please respond and let me know. If there's enough interest, I would be more
than happy to spearhead the operation (with some help of course).

Please let me know if you're interested!

Guy,

To date, there have been about three of these. The first two were years ago and organized by Craig Lechowicz.
I had hoped to organize one that was an hour or more closer to us than the others largely because of the field of younger owners that Facebook found in the area. This also drove another decision - Weekday or Weekend. The two nearest are both Weekday events. This kind of cuts out the younger (and employed) owners. It does have a great advantage as to available facilities.

That younger crowd is why I post both here and on Facebook. Given what I see of the new demographic, I suggest that you do the same. It may be one of the only reasons to post on FB. (Another is to tell new or possible owners that there is support like they could not imagine HERE.)

So, Run it up the flagpole.....
And Happy Lunches.

Matt

Follow the lead of the very successful Tulsa Lunch Bunch.
http://www.gmcclassics.com/rallies/tulsa.html

They've been at this for near 16 years. They're loyal ambassadors of the
GMC Motorhome in the Area.

It's a monthly ritual!

Guy, Yes, I'd be interested. As a permanently unemployed person time is more flexible then before,
but a consideration should be given to those employed.

I'll be looking here for info.

Guy,
I'll attend if I'm at home or if I'm passing through Sac on the day of the event. Now down to only one GMC, I barely qualify for membership.

Gene are you going to sell that coach also and get a SOB ? Being broke down in the desert with seized up exhaust valve guides this winter has Paula questioning my sanity maintaining a 40 year old Motorhome.

Roy,
I already bought the diesel pusher. 1998 36' Alpine. I sold the Palm Beach to the first and only person who looked at it. Must have underpriced it.

I am currently using the 76 Eleganza as a mobile bedroom while working on a property in So Cal. I'm not ready to sell it yet, but will in a few months.

Sorry to hear about your engine problems. If you need valve seats insist that the machinist read Joe Mondello's write up about machining Olds heads for seat replacement. Machinist in Red Bluff ruined 2 heads for me even AFTER we had discussions about the danger of boring into the water jackets.

I'll point out, the guy who owns Moonie's Tejas BBQ in Flowery Branch is a new GMC owner. We might consider descending on him for lunch at some point.

The diesel should do a lot better in the mountains we have out here the gmc struggles pulling a toad over the passes I know I sweat bullits climbing the pass out of Biship and Lee Vining at 3000 rpm in 2nd gear at 30-35 mph. My machinist also ruined a head cutting into the water jacket after I warned him not to use a Chevy seat. Fortunately he had another set of nice heads. He swore manganese bronze exhaust guides in the heads would be a good improvement ,I told him I saw an article on a web site that said solid bronze guides should be used only in aluminum heads as they expand double what iron guides do and will expand inward if they are unable to go outward due to being in an iron head. He said that was BS. This is exactly what happened to my heads and when I called him on it he said it was my fault fo getting my combustion chambers too hot?? The shop that did my heads again in Pheonix so I could get home said never never use solid bronze in an iron head street motor and maybe not in a race motor. I will never again use Superior Machine in Reno to do work for me.

Yes Gene, I am slowly working on it. I have roughly 15 people locally who are interested in attending.

I have my 2nd back surgery on Tuesday. I'm trying to catch up on my chores so I can lay around for up to 6 weeks after surgery. Hopefully contributing to a successful outcome this time. I plan to really get going on the planning during this down time.

Stay tuned!
