I removed the old AC unit that was at the rear and replaced it with a "Fantastic Fan” All’s well there. The front roof vent has also been removed (it was original with out a fan)
Now I want to install a new AC unit over the existing front vent opening. It appears that the Carrier AC unit I have sits on foam pads that surround the 14”x14” opening. I am concerned that there is no waterproof dam to keep any water out of the opening. Am I missing a component? What is the usual method of waterproofing this opening?
The foam pad in 1/2” thick by 1-1/2” wide (is quite firm) and measures 14” x 14” on the inside.
Any help would be appreciated.

You can buy a new ac unit gasket which is adhesive backed on one side and
clean on the other. It should be about an inch or so thick and 1 1/2" wide.
Install and tighten down with j hooks and you are done.

Peter,
To allay any fears you might have, that gasket does an adequate job. We have driven through rain that was heavy enough to make the front wheels loose traction. There was no water intrusion.
I was also in the interesting situation that the original Coleman unit was too tall to go into my barn, so I removed the entire A/C every fall. That went on for five years and I did not replace the gasket until I got the new one for the low profile Carrier.
