Matt,
I have never heard of the megasquirt, seems like a pretty cool board with an unfortunate name. One idea I had was to set up a wireless sensor network to monitor the house system and replace all those balky 40 year old senders. I really like this new e-tape liquid level sensors. Supposedly even rated for use in gasoline. Probably is more trouble and expense than its worth though. There are also some cheap flow sensors on various sites that use PWM to record flow rates, again supposedly rated for fuel. I think it would be great to see how much fuel I used on a trip, but I hate to trust my life/trip to a $20 plastic sensor.
