I've had Windows 10 for a while now...any way to go back to Win 7 Pro ?

All of my computers are now running Win 10 with no significant problems.
The only way I can use it, however, is with Classic Shell (
http://www.classicshell.net/) which makes it look like Win 7. I started
using that with Win 8 and it's relieved me of the necessity to become "up
to date". Supposedly that program offers other improvements also, but I
haven't investigated those.
Everyone might as well get used to Win 10 somehow; Microsoft's not going to
continue to support earlier versions.

I inherited (truly) this machine with Vista on it. I had never had a Vista machine and I still don't. I made it Win8/64 and it can't go to 8.1, so I am safe with both this and the Win7Pro laptop that can't be 10.

Matt I got used to XP. The laptop that died was Vista, so I could navigate in it. IIRC, ClassicShell won't make it look and act like XP, Vista was as close as I could get. So my interface looks and acts like Vista because that is as close as I can get to XP. Windows 7 is useable, but of course, Microsoft moved stuff around and there is a learning curve on it from XP or Vista. I have used Windows 7, and can get around in it well enough. But really the only reason Microsoft changes stuff up is so you think you are getting something for your upgrade dollar. The interfaces after Windows 7 are completely mucked up. Young brains can assimilate the changes. Us old guys struggle with them.

DesqView was great! DOS, not so much…
True "power users" are familiar with the *NIX shell (that lives under UNIX/Linux/OS X)...

DesqView was way ahead of it’s time. I routinely amazed early windows user with how much it would do with 1MB of RAM and a 286 machine. Seems almost quaint today!
I guess I’m just a command line kinda guy.
I’ve been following this thread because I was actually considering picking up a Windows notebook to run the TraqMate software for the Miata and the handful of other pieces of software that I use where the software is Windows “only"
I just confirmed that all of it will run under Parallels (which will let Windows boot on the Mac) with Windows 8.x, so there is one less piece of hardware to worry about.
I’ll deploy a Windows server in a heartbeat. I just don’t want to have to worry about the vulnerabilities of having it as my desktop.

I haven't used Parallels in quite a few years (probably way back in PowerPC days). In recent times I've switched to VMware, because I quite often need to move virtual machines between quite a variety of host platforms and that's very easy with ESXi (Hypervisor) / VMware Player (Linux & Windows) / Fusion (OS X).
Most Windows Servers I install - usually end up as virtual machines running on top of ESXi. It makes dealing with Redmond's barbaric activation methods much more palatable. But I usually try to talk people out of deploying Windows Servers, if I can...
