Hey Guys,

Finally starting the interior of the Glenbrook after hip surgery. So here are my questions:

1) Cabinet Refinishing: Should I shoot KILZ Primer after a good sanding before using Krylon Fusion as the final coat? Or should I just sand and use the Krylon?

2) I want to replace the factory kitchen sink. Should I use a standard household model or an RV model? Are there depth issues for the sink? Same questions apply to the faucet? Household or RV? The coach is not back home yet but will be this weekend...

Thanks for the help...

Steve

I've had great results with Fusion over the past 5 years or so. It has great adhesion, even to old aluminum exposed to rough, waterfront environment. There is a spray primer, I believe. That said, Kilz **oil-based** primer is my go-to primer. I never seem to get quite as good results with anything else.

>faucets

My experience is that RV faucets generally suck. Period. I'm planning to rebuild a new lav faucet the co-op used already. I would have tossed it completely, but I think it uses the old Delta ball & seats. If it does, I can rebuild it with stainless guts.

>RV sink

Generally smaller and shallower. Depth is marginally sufficient.

Steve,

Do you (or your SO) plan to ever use the galley for cooking?
If yes, the taps are all standard stuff. Go to a BigBox or Kitchen store and look at what there is.
The OE was so short we couldn't get a pot under it.
The next was a cure for that but Mary though a rinser would waste a lot of water. She changed here mind.
We now have a nice tall one with the rinser in the main tap. She likes it.

If IKEA is near, take a look at their sinks and faucets. When we next go to Ikea, we have selected a much nicer sink that will fit nicely in the original position and add several inches of depth. Just a little far to run to Atlanta.

No Ikea in Mobile? Bummer. Gimme a shout before Dothan if you want, I'll go get it for you and bring it.

WOW... That looks great!! I have thought about replacing the base cabinet but the curvature of the GMC body might be an issue? Along with the fact that on my coach the furnace is under it too...

How did you solve these issues?

Thanks for the help and ideas!

Thanks for the kind words, the bottoms are cut out, toe kick sections shortened 1.5 inches (to clear the window) and back bottom corners relieved for the curvature. Original furnace just fits (although I pulled it out for more storage this past season) lastly, I cut off the back splash and flipped it over on its back to not interfere with window. Custom stainless around stove, and Samsung over the range microwave ducted to original exterior vent.

I'm with you Tom , ikea has smaller diameter sink faucets that fit the small holes on original sinks

Was the cabinet made of ply or particle board?
