"Verizon is still the coverage leader for LTE, with its subscribers having access to LTE 86 percent of the time, OpenSignal says. But T-Mobile users now get LTE 81 percent of the time, which the firm says is very good. T-Mobile and Verizon tied on 4G LTE speed, with AT&T and Sprint falling far behind."

My sister has been with T-mobile forever and has one of those grandfathered plans that gives her unlimited everything for half of what it would cost her to move. She calls the company "T-Maybe" because she says more often than not, she has no coverage.

I tend to believe your sister's review more than the report. I'd bet it'd fail to connect or be so slow as to be unusable 75% of the time here. Even Verizon fails or drops a significant percentage of the time around home (but it is better in town).
But, from the report, it reads like T-Mobile (which usually seems to have the more subscriber service for the money ...IF you can access them) has left the Sprint backbone. Good, Verizon needs some competition.
The take-away regarding our current on-the-road needs is that Verizon mifi and/or data coverage still appears to be the way to go.

I have been a long time T-Mobile customer and save tons over a Verizon plan. Their coverage has gotten a lot better -- as in from terrible to okay (in the northeast). It is still no where near is good verizon.
