Hi,
I am a new owner of a '77 Royale that I purchased last summer.

I am upgrading various sections of the interior with the ceiling and dinette area being the main focus.

I have a leak where the cab roof meets the main roof, below the awning arm (passenger side).

Here is a picture: http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/awning-repair/p59895-file-005.html

I've scraped out the copious amounts of silicone and I can see light shining through at the seam.

Any suggestions on sealants to use in this area?

I will fit a support piece from the inside for the right bolt hole.

It had a drywall plug screwed into the fiberglass! Shocked

Thanks!

JJ,

Go to your nearest auto-parts store that also sells auto painting supplies. Get your self a good seam sealer either by 3M or Eastwood if you want to buy online. Either it can be a mechanical finish with gloved finger or a self leveling type. It will be a more costly in the $15 to $30 range, but don’t go cheap! You only what to do it once and do it aright!

Welcome to GMC MH University where answers are freely given.

Check the hole seam between the front cap and the center roof section, it may look good
but water has a way of traveling in these coaches to where it shows up inside.

That hole under the gutter end cap needs to be cleaned good by scrapping, wire brush and acetone
to remove the old sealer. Then just before applying the sealer use some rubbing alcohol in the seal area.
I use 3M marine #5200, it comes in fast dry and slow dry. At Lowes it $25.00 per tube.

Use 3M 5200 only when you don't ever want to separate the parts you
joined with it.
Properly applied like you described, it won't come apart without severe
parts damage.
