Where is the fresh water tank? I have found the outside filler for a hose but is there a filler for pouring water from a jug? '73 Canyonlands 23' Thanks.

1973 Canyonlands 230 (23') Odometer reads 37K but probably 137K or 237K Side wet bath/Rear bed/couch Kitchen to the rear of the door inSanity Monica,California

If original -- the gravity fill should be in the propane compartment and have a locking cap.
What floor plan do you have in the back?
Mine is a gaucho and the water tank runs along the back wall under the window.

It should be in one of the rear corners. Likely under the bed.

My 23' Norris upfit (76) has the water heater and fresh water tank under the bed directly behind the entry door. Both the water tank fill and hose connection for shore water are to the left of the entry door in the side iof the coach.

Go to page 34 & 35 of your X7321A (1973 owners manual).
Gives the layout of the 23’ on top and page 34 the location of the file port on 35.
PM me if you can,t find a copy and I will send you one.

Thanks, Dennis. I see that filler tube. But it is so large and with a locking cap, I thought surely it is a gas tank filler tube??

Yes -- they probably thought it best to lock to prevent error causing contamination.

PS
On the original locking cap the key does not turn, just insert it and then twist off the cap.

I got a call several years from a very new GMC owner to request some parts. He had just picked up his new to him 1973 GMC coach that morning. As he was leaving the used car lot where he had bought the coach from the salesman said that he had also filled the back tank with fuel too as a sales thank you. I told him to not do or touch anything with the water system and drive it back to the dealer and have them remove the gas from the water system and flush and clean the system. You basically have to replace everything in the water system to remove the contamination from the water system with gasoline. I never did get a call back from him with the resolution of the issue.

Those that are not yet familiar with the coach, your more than welcome to
call and talk to us for guidance.
Best to call first before you do the wrong thing.

Wow. Interesting story. Shocked I don't have a key for the locking cap. So what is the best way to get it off? How does one fill the second gas tank?

The fill and cap are held on the hose by a clamp -- so I would remove the mounting bracket and loosen the clamp. The fill may be hard to remove with years of "sticky" holding it in place so you may have to cut the hose. It's likely you will want to replace the fill hose anyway, especially after you see what's growing in it.
With access to the backside you should be able to depress the two detentes that lock it in place.
