Thanks for all the great advice. I've done a lot of boat rescues, but this
is my first entry into motorhomes. I'm leaning towards continuing my search
to find one I can start using with little work, then tinker/upgrade as I
read on this forum. I am an avid old BMW motorcycle enthusiast and one of
the great, great benefits is the following. Crafty folks generous with
their knowledge and willingness to help others learn. I see that same
camaraderie in the GMC group. It certainly has focused my search for an
interesting motorcoach that I can manage myself, as I'll travel alone
frequently. Tombstone, AZ. Annapolis, MD. Athens, GA. and lots in between.

So, I'll pass on the project GMC in Largo. There are a few near Athens, GA
but can't seem to get a reply from the sellers. Might be sold and I'll
continue to look and read on the forum.

Cheers,

Tony

Tony, you are absolutely correct about the many nice people here willing to share their knowledge. I'm not sure where you are specifically, but you at least live in the same State as one of the most knowledgeable guys here on the Net. Ken Henderson responded to your post yesterday and offered his help and to stay in touch. I would HIGHLY recommend that you take him up on his offer. His help alone could not only help you find that "perfect" GMC for you, but potentially save you thousands of dollars in the process. Plus, he's just a generally nice guy with an awesome GMC maintenance pit! Haha

Good luck on your hunt!

Tony,

We got into a GMC only to go places we couldn't sail to - Like Yellowstone. I am a lifelong and genetic waterman.
Finally, I figured out what the really big difference is between a boat and an RV. Water can leak out of an RV.

We have a friendly line around here that works out to be very true.

"A reliable and ready to travel GMC will cost about 25K$. All at once or as a kit."

I thought this was wrong. We did get the coach for a lot less. Then I started fixing and replacing things. If you thrown in my time (at about 1$/hr), we blew past that number a while back. It has been every bit worth it.

There is also a standard understanding that we watermen share. "A waterman and is boat, they take care of each other."
When you have a coach, and think of not doing something that you think she might need, remember that.

Let us know when you find her. There are lots to choose from.

Matt
