I started a new thread.

".Jim Hupy ( presently residing at St. VINCENT'S cardiovascular palace since
Tuesday. Had an aortic valve replaced early Tuesday morning. The sac
surrounding the heart as well. Doing good so far.)."

Jim, So glad to hear that surgery was a success! I'm also glad to see that
you brought your computer to the hospital with you!

When do they plan to release you?

Guy, no release date has been discussed. Surgeon said that typically the
stay is 3 to 5 days. I am on day 4. All systems working as of this morning.
All drains out, incision looks like it hurts like hell. It does. Am up and
walking without assistance. Trying to do what they ask. Food absolutely
sucks. Guess that is another incentive. Thanks for asking.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

My brother has spent 5 of the last 30 months in hospital and the food was never good.

Finally found a mobile caterer who would drop off the occasional box lunch --

Glad you got a good result. Have Mama sneak you an ArchBurger, but don't tell the cardiologist - he'd be horrified. Even better... have someone bring a therapy dog by to pet, you'll both feel better.

Jim,

Well it sounds like you're good for another 100,000 miles or more, eh?

I haven't been in a hospital in the USA for over 30 years so I can't remember what the food was like but I can say that when I got
my knee replaced the food in St. Vincent's Hospital and Wolper Rehabilitation Hospital here was good.

I still wanted out ASAP though!

Is that the St Vincent cardiovascular palace in Portland?
If so, they must have changed the staff. Food was very good when I was
there. It has been a buncha years since I was a recipient of their
services.

Food at Tuality in Hillsboro does suck, bug time....errr, big time. Cool,
rather than hot or warm, over or under-cooked, limp greens, etc.
Probably started out as real food, but ruined by faulty preparation or
delayed serving.

Ron, it is the one on Barnes Rd. and 217 hwy. Yours is an apt description
of the swill they call a post-op low cholesterol diet.. But, there is hope.
They are sending me home tomorrow early in the day. Hooray.

Great news Jim! Please follow the Doc's orders and take it easy for a while.

However, please let us know when you are up and about. I need to order a

Jim,

Get well soon. So glad the docs are happy with the outcome. A friend of mine early this week had a knee replacement. He is famously willing to express himself. I spoke to his wife with him in the room post operative on the phone. I asked her if his doctors were happy. She was on speaker phone. He pipes up in the background, "They should be happy with the fee they charge!" (He's on Medicare and won't pay a dime with his supplement.) I allowed with him as a patient, they were happy they didn't botch it up and get sued by him or his estate. He is a dear friend.

I guess I should join Guy and get with "the final solution to brake bleeding". Bleeds so long as the coach is reasonably upright and gravity applies.

Best,

Carey

Mechanical. He said it would last 300 years. I figure that ought to be long
enough.

To quote a very famous man, "Free at last, free at last! Thank GOD
ALMIGHTY, we are free at last. They are sending me home today, one week
after open heart aortic valve replacement. Still weak as a kitten from the
gastric distress. But doing well in the heart department. Thanks for all
the prayers and kind words.

Did you get one of the ones that goes 'click' each time it closes, or have they progressed beyond that?
