Has anybody tried a side view camera, say off the passenger side rear view mirror?
Been driving my daughters new Honda van, it has one. What great idea!

Few of our customers have purchased them and love them as they do give you
a great view without rotating your head.
We prefer to mount the camera on the side trim as it is lower and less
chance to miss the objects bu the front wheel area.

With 3 hardwired cams installed, what monitor are you using for split-screen viewing?

I have three cheap cameras on the way, with the intent of one backup and two sides. I haven't decided what to do for a monitor. I lean towards a decent size screen, split horizontally. Top half would be rear view, bottom would be split vertically with a side cam on each side. Three cheap single screens across the instrument binnacle on the top would also work. First is going to be getting the cameras working and mounted waterproof. At something under $10 each, it will take some doing. Maybe by Dothan I'll have a system to show.

I'm on a quest to combine as much as possible into a $200 10" Win10 touchscreen laptop/tablet. Besides being my travel laptop, it already does dashboard duty concuurrently running a SJcam 4000 wireless cam as the rear view along with Delorme gps. I tested this part of the setup between Orlando and Lazydays rally. Next will be to see how cheap, waterproof usb borescopes perform as sideview cams. I will try locating the cam head behind the ends of the front bumper as they are only 3/8" diam. Or chassis-view or bogie-view if I want it, is the software will handle 4 usb cams. Man, I love this cheap Chinese stuff.

What's the best source for "cheap, waterproof USB borescopes"? I'd like to have a couple of those handy, especially to find some mystery noises in the GMC and another vehicle that I have to drive to make those parts clash.

Wow...thanks Johnny Smile I just looked them up on ebay also...quite a variety available, didn't know they were so cheap now. Only borescope I have was a hundred dollars, but it has it's own screen. These cheap ones are going to get me into trouble or save the day or maybe both Laughing

The Banggood 7mm Waterproof inspection camera I have has a very wide field of view and white LED lights. I'm not sure I would like it for this as the application, but it sure was cheap enough.

That's why I bought the generic cameras. I figure the field of view would be too wide on a borescope... we're talking two to twenty - five feet field of interest or perhaps a bit more. Or either a note on the display at the bottom "Items Which Appear Minuscule Are About To Hit You"

These are the highest resolution I found 8 months ago. Since then they've become an Amazon best seller:

The white leds are easy enough to cap off and if I'm just looking for something in my blind spot, then field of view might not matter much -certainly worth a shot at the heathen Chinee prices.

My problem is when it rains at night. More than once I find myself headed home in the rain and I have to get there so I can't overnight. My mirrors are useless if it's raining, because they aren't in the wiper arc. And if I ever modify to parallel wipers they still won't be... so I want the ability to see down the side of the coach and into the lane beside me. And the genernic cameras were 8.50. I wanna see how yours work out too.
