Good evening all. Getting to do some repairs to my Onan and need to
pull her out of coach. What is best and simplest to get the old beast
out of the coach. Ideas would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Marcel in Sunny New Mexico

Marcel,
On the intake manifold there is a threaded hole where you can screw in a
eye let and use a small hook to rig up to a cherry picker.

The 4k units have a 3/8-16 NC bolt hole in the top for an eyebolt. The eyebolt might already be installed. Use the eyebolt to support it with an engine hoist while you remove the bolts that hold it on the slides (Figure 1 on page 5 of the Operators Manual and Parts Catalog). Take the muffler off before you set it down.

Pull the Onan out and there is a tapped hole in the manifold in the center
of the engine. It is there for a device known as a pad eye. It is the
balance point and where the hoist is attached. After the hoist is hooked
up, then remove the bolts from the slide mechanism. Also, the output leads
from the circuit breaker, and unplug the control board harness as well as
the fuel line. Roll it out. Lacking a hoist, raise the air bags fully, pull
it all the way out, rest it on substantial supports, remove all the
previously mentioned items, and lower the coach. The Onan will be supported
on the blocks.

Marcel,

If you have a 26, you can bring out the mounts with it, but if you have a 23 with a 4kW, the process is different and only spelled out in the X7425 manual.

I have a hell of a oil leak under engine. I think I need to replace the
large gasket under the oil pan. I also wanted to do a good clean up of
unit and inside compartment

Onan oil leaks can be tricky. One very common leak that get oil all over is the oil pressure shut off switch. I would check that carefully before you pull the Onan. It is a common part and is available at most auto parts stores.

As Jim says, I had the same type of oil leak and went as far as to get the crank shaft seal. Oil was all over the bottom and blowing out the cooling air exit. When I finally got around to fixing it the problem was the oil filter mount. I tightened it and the leak is gone. After that I spent at least 2 hours cleaning up the oil leak mess all over the bottom of the engine.
