I spent a couple hours with Jason, who just bought 'La Vern' from the party who bought it from the original owner's estate. '78 Royale, rear bath. Nicely cleaned up, and I noted it's had the needed stuff done. New tires, new oil cooler hoses, new fuel hoses, new brake lines, new batteries. I didn't see any rust. The Onan spins over and PUTTs when the remote start is used - the switch on the control card is shot. I told him, gimme the card when you get a chance and I'll heal it. PO put a new bridge rectifier in the Onan, there's some question as to whether it's in properly or not. I told him, download Duane Simmons' fixit treatise and go to it, it should work just fine. Suggested he lose the clear plastic fuel filter in the line to the pump. The pump is new. A/C and furnace want looking at. I don't think any gas is getting to the furnace based on his description (Suburban). Cover is off, the burner chamber looks OK. I suggested he join this forum, plus FMCA and the Dixielanders and consider GMCMI. I also suggested he needs to hit Bean Station and Dothan with his new coach and pick brains.
Who was the PO of the coach? He didn't remember, said he'd look on the paperwork. I told him I don't think he got hurt on it, the things necessary to make it go safely have been done, he can take his time upgrading to what he wants.
Incidentally, he owns and runs our favorite barbecue joint, as well as a burger joint. He gave me a burger, they're AWEsome. (Quarter pound of Angus, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, bacon, fried egg, mustard, etc.)
