Made our second run with the GMC/diesel combo but pulled our 2010 VW wagon with us this time. The extra weight didn't seem to bother it much on the hills although the mileage took a little hit.Of course the new solar panels on the roof may have also made a slight difference. Between Rio Rancho NM and Quartzite AZ on our way to San Diego we used a little over 47 gallons for a 12.97 average trying to keep her at 62 mph. The winds weren't too bad but the ones we had weren't favorable and I still haven't figured out the cruise control problem. I must have 80 hours in trying to figure that darn cruise out already but still no joy. I hope when I get the cruise working the mileage will improve.
I did find I had the wrong radiator cap but have the right one (non vented) on the way.
All and all the swap seems to have worked out as well as I'd hoped.
