I've had 3, 78 Royales. All had that plastic with a yellow/brown cast. The Mouse House is the darkest. There's even a big difference in color between the front, and rear roof A/C units. With the front being the darkest. I think that this discoloration is from people smoking. What's interesting to me, is that all the sunvisors in all 3 Royales have been very white. So, was that plastic headliner very white like the sun visors. ( That would make sense.) Or did it match the unstained area of the A/C units.Bob Dunahugh Member GMCMI73, and 78 GMC's4441 Dear View RdCedar Rapids Iowa 51411Cell # 319-521-4891. Not Affraid

I am leaning to Antique white rather than the pure white

Bob,

You can clearly see approximately what the original color was when you
uncover sections of the headliner that have been opaquely covered
"forever". Almost pure white. That color can be restored -- Google
"whitening plastic". It's not complicated, but it's also not very durable
-- paint seems to retain its color much better.

That plastic (I believe it's ABS, right??) seems to have a tendency to yellow over time and with environmental exposure. If someone smoked in the coach, I'm sure that would have made the problem worse. Mine was taken down by the PO and painted a bright white, probably with Krylon Fusion or some other plastic paint. It looks great to this day, except for a section at the juncture of the plastic cap and the headliner, which was never painted for whatever reason. The rear cap and the AC bottom trim panels received the same treatment. All look much better than that old yellowed plastic.

The PO had mine re-whited by Sirum, I believe. It looks good. You might call and ask them what they use on headliners.

I glued this "Hull Liner" to the headliner. Looks good, absorbs sound. JWID

Bob,

I used SEM paint and the color was called Sailcloth. It is a perfect match for the original white, at least for 1976 Palm Beach.

When I finally redid my headliner, I removed the plastic front and reprinted it with Satin White from the Fusion line of spray paint. It really matched the Komotex panels I used for the headliner. Wish that I had pulled and reprinted the rear plastic.

Thanks Jon for telling me about the SEM color of Sailcloth. My local body shop supplier has some spray cans on hand. $14.95 each. So I'll get it tomorrow.
