Wondering what the water pressure would be from the engine back to water heater in the preheat hoses. Haven't been able to find it in the documentation. If someone knows where, please point me to it.

Should be what the radiator cap is, minus a bit for hose restriction.

The water pressure caused by pumping is almost ZERO. It takes next to no difference in pressure to move coolant through the closed (recirculating) cooling system. That said, the entire cooling system is pressurized by the expansion caused engine heating the coolant. The entire system pressure is regulated by the radiator cap. In the GMC the normal pressure is around 9 PSI. For any pressure higher than that, the pressure will be relieved by the radiator cap with the excess coolant being sent to the coolant overflow bottle.

The replies you got regarding cooling system pressure has no effect on what you are asking about. You want the differential pressure which is created by the inlet vs outlet water pump pressure.

Bob,

I think that you would have to connect a PSID gage to the fitting in the intake manifold that feeds the dash heater and water
heater:

And the fitting that this hose connects to:

Unfortunately I don't know which is the high side (supply to dash heater and house water heater) or low side (return to engine).

Well, I thought someone might have gone before, where I am trying to go. Smile

Nine psi was what I guessed without any experience to back it up. With Jim's and Ken's experience I think I am satisfied.
