Try "Through the Roof" clear flashing sealant for stack. Comes in quarts and dries clear so no big mess like the black tar.

BUTEL (misspelled) is the stuff I was trying to think of last night Bob. It is what you use on windows and vents and such. Roll it out like making a rope, screw down the cover and it squeezes out and you can scrape off the excess just like modeling clay. Good stuff!

Butyl. 'Most any auto parts store should have it. 3M makes probably the
best. I comes as a flat tape consisting of several round sections
side-by-side which can be easily separated. Perhaps better for window
installation is another configuration -- plain flat tape in various widths;
3/4" is probably best for windows.
