Back in March, I posted about a Yada back-up camera that I installed on my coach:

The camera was a birthday gift from my kids and was purchased from Costco. On our recent trip to Utah, we drove through a couple days of heavy rain and the camera got water inside of the lens, making it very foggy. After checking with Costco, we returned it yesterday. That meant dismantling my ceiling and pulling the power wire out the back of the coach, etc. I pulled a pull wire in order to simplify the re-installation and was expecting it to go smoothly (which it did).

After hooking everything back up, I tested the new unit. It turned on and paired up the monitor with the camera, and seemed to be working, then it shut off for no apparent reason. I turned off the power, turned it back on, and it came back on...briefly. Even after double and triple checking all the connections, subsequent attempts produced the same result, the camera would shut off after five seconds. I emailed their tech support, but read several reviews from Amazon where others had experienced the same type of failure and were advised to exchange the unit for another one.

My dilemma is; do I continue the insanity and exchange this one for another expecting different results, or shall I get a refund and apply the money to a better quality unit (if such a thing exists)? I am leaning toward giving the Yada a third chance since I have the installation (power wiring, switch, etc) already done and won't have to start over from scratch.

Bottom line, I would NOT recommend this product. I don't know if it is a case of bad luck, or a typical case of a poorly made (in China) product with, evidently, no quality control. When it works, it gives a satisfactory view out the back of the coach and the brightness and contrast are adjustable on the monitor. I guess I'm just bummed at the time wasted on this thing, time that I don't really have.
