Been a while since I mentioned this. Killed 2 in the GMC this summer. BUT,,,, I'm up to 273 since we moved into this new place. Its like an assult or invasion. In the walls, house, attic, garage, wood shed, pool and the shop/Butler building where the GMC is stored. I feel like i'm loosing. Didn't want to but I'm puting out poison. I can't seen to stem the onslot. This year I also found 75 frogs in or around the pool. With the windows open we couln't sleep and i found and eliminated 42 in one nite. Let me tell you its like work. I'm spending as much as 1 to 2 hours each week on pest control. Including 3 skunks,,,, one I call the skunk from Hell. One nite I heard a big splash and found a big Aramadillo in the pool. They can't seem to hold their breath very long. Quote of the day,,, on the backhoe digging and the "Boss" shuts me down. "dear,,, I know you're busy but could you come get the Bat out of the Pool so your grandkids can swim???" Love living in then country,,, but its taking time I can't spare???

I've been using Havoc XT and it keeps our mice population at about zero.

This is what I use to take care care of mice at our place. I put these feeders around the buildings on each side of entrances. I make a second ring around the buildings near trees, etc. to get them "well fed" before they even reach the building. As we have no dogs I can leave bare bait blocks inside the buildings around the doors and any other place I think they can get in. Inside I also use sticky traps or spring traps around the GMC by the wheels and also a few sticky traps inside the coach. I try to make our property a "black hole" for mice.

I have a snake that moved in my shop with me several years ago and he's kept
the mice situation under control. Now, if I could get him
to quit undressing and leaving his old skins laying around. LOL

For enclosed spaces like the GMC I simply leave dryer sheets around. Mice don't like the smell. For open areas I keep them well fed with bait.

Other GMCers have reported that mice have used the dryer sheets for their nests!

I use cotton in the spring traps. Mice like it to make nests.

If you live in the country cats are your friends. We live on 3 acres and have one outside cat. Haven't had a mouse in years other than the headless trophies the cat leaves by the back door.

Kerry,

It seems that for some reason cats like mouse / rat / mole / vole heads. When we lived in countryside Hong Kong (Sai Kung) Stumpy
and Shadow would deposit headless carcasses at the back door frequently.

Almost invariably they were headless, guess that they considered the head the delicacy and in typical cat fashion left the rest for
Helen and me! :-)

What was real fun was when Shadow (female) would catch one and bring it in the house alive. At 3:00 am I'd wake up hearing this tiny
voice screeching. I'd get up and find her standing in front of the mouse which she had trapped in a corner. She would give it a
smack and it would scream. I'd go get a dish towel, drop it over the mouse, carry it outside, and dump it on the back side of the
wall that surrounded our house. I'd go back inside to find her searching FURIOUSLY for her living toy.

When we left for the USA we found a desiccated mouse carcass behind the sideboard in the dining room.

Regards,
Rob M.

To keep the mice out of the GMC during winter storage I purchased 6" flashing from Home depot and placed around each wheel. I used velcro to connect the ends. Now no more mice in the GMC!

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/500/medium/KeepMiceOut.jpg

During the summer, the GMC is typically outside with the cover on so the flashing doesn't work as the mice can climb on the cover. So I trap them with this mouse trap. Works excellent!

Well, that is certainly an interesting approach, however my mice were able to jump out of my peanut butter bottle trap until i added some antifreeze in the bucket. Thats about 18" jump vertical, so 6" jump would be easy if they wanted to. I guess that there was more incentive to get out of the bucket than jumping over an unknown wall.

Gene,
I also have in addition to the peanut butter trap I also have a "HavaHart" trap that is rather effective although it only delays their swimming lesson which so far none of them have passed :)
If you would like,I will forgo this swimming lesson and send the "POOR BABIES" to you for care and rehabilitation :-)
