OK, I've had a leak in my Onan for the last year and finally found time to deal with it. I've got the oil filter adaptor off and both (new) gaskets back in place and I can get the top nut started on the filter adaptor but there has to be some kind of trick to get a nut started on the bottom of the adaptor. I can get the tip of one finger to the bolt. I might be able to get the washer onto the bolt but I don't think I can get a nut to the end of the bolt, let alone get it started, especially while holding very firm pressure on the adaptor.

There is a shroud between the starter and the oil filter that, if removed, might create enough room to get a second finger to the vicinity of the bolt but it looks like I have to take the intake manifold (and maybe more) off to remove it. Should I do what I have to to remove this shroud or is there an easier way?

I was able to use a small 1/4" drive socket with a long extension to reach in there. Once I got the nut pressed chai at the end of the bolt it went on easily.
