Always wondered why coolant gauge showd 90 celcius while my thetmostat is a 82 celcius (180 F). Now that i drove without a working alternator and a voltage of just above 12 V. It showed 82 C. Guess it is a 12 volt sender/gauge that shows to much with 14 V

You should have replaced everything on Olga by now. The wheel bearings doing all right? Which new alternator are you using?

I didn't. I took apart the column and found the the piece of the diecast that is supposed to make a slot for the cylinder's tab to lock into had bent up. This allowed the tab to go past the slot. Lots of things went wrong. So, I turned a circular shim to go in the bottom of the cylinder's hole and that fixed everything. Now Acc is easy and starting is even easier.

100 Miles today and still charging and better then before. I am not loosing Amps on the fridge while driving
I can hear the whine while slowing down otherwise its lost in all the other noice
I am happy again

Then there is the process of doing it a second time (having owner ours for

cobbled it up this way was none other than myself !
