Always wondered why coolant gauge showd 90 celcius while my thetmostat is a 82 celcius (180 F). Now that i drove without a working alternator and a voltage of just above 12 V. It showed 82 C. Guess it is a 12 volt sender/gauge that shows to much with 14 V

Appie,
You should have replaced everything on Olga by now. The wheel bearings doing all right? Which new alternator are you using?

Nope Gene,
I didn't. I took apart the column and found the the piece of the diecast that is supposed to make a slot for the cylinder's tab to lock into had bent up. This allowed the tab to go past the slot. Lots of things went wrong. So, I turned a circular shim to go in the bottom of the cylinder's hole and that fixed everything. Now Acc is easy and starting is even easier.

* The last and most rewarding list is "Done". This lists both non-maintenance and some non-periodic maintenance like battery replacement all the way back to the day that "Chaumière" came to live with us. This list is good for two very important reasons. First is as a reminder when you did some specific job and second is that it is very rewarding to look back these nine years at all that I have done to keep her reliable and enjoyable.
Of course the tough part of the "done" list are the items which need "re-doing" because for me, 13 summers have elapsed since I bought my coach and some of the previous upgrades/re-dos have worn out.

The nice thing about the done list, is that you can look at it and think, "Gee, that lasted/didn't last as long as I hoped, but I remember what I wanted to do differently."

Then there is the process of doing it a second time (having owner ours for
since '96) or a third and while pouring the 'Blessings' on the previous
owners, the realization slowly creeps in to my head that the clown who
cobbled it up this way was none other than myself !
