I was going to run up to Knoxville. Borrow space from Chuck Boyd, and make the shows up there. In preparation, I ran up to the no alcohol gas place today and got 40 gallons of the finest. And noticed an oil spot under the front of the coach. Got home (26 miles R/T) and she's a quart low and the right underneath of the coach is nicely oiled. I took a few minutes and some rags and wiped all the oil off the radiator side and support and fan shroud side and lines and fittings and, and ,and. And particularly got the cooler fittings for the oil and trans fluid nice and clean and dry. Blocked the wheels, fired her up, and there's a trickle of oil out of the lower cooler fitting around the threads. Damn. I had gotten two of the soft copper seals from J.R. in Dothan to quell oozing at the adaptors to the hard lines. Fool that I am, I didn't get a pair for the radiator ends, they were dry. The manager at Advance knew what I was referring to, but had none. Nor did the local plumbing jobber, the hydraulics place, Ace, or TSC. So I emailed J.R. hopefully he has a pair and I'll be back in binniss shortly.
So, the Mousetoad and I will trek to Knoxville, and I'll hit the Motel Sleaze over by the show site. Given the difference in gas mileage, it's probably cheaper this way, but not near as much fun. I'll still get over to visit with Chuck and kin, but I can't show off the new generator. Bright spot - Mapquest says the shortest route includes Tail O The Dragon, which I'm not ready to tackle in the GMC but ought to be fun in the Mouse.

Johnny,
Obviously, you missed this or you wouldn't have let USPS slow you down:

The only problem driving Tail of the Dragon in your motor home is the nice people on the motorcycles all around you that are... very unhappy you are there. The speed people clearly believe that is "their road" and they won't be shy of letting you know in a variety of ways from pack riding all around you, flipping birds, screaming and more. Generally I take special care looking for motorcycles. On my two trips through Tail of the Dragon I wouldn't have minded had I not been so careful while they tried to intimidate me.
Not all motorcyclists are idiots. Not even all of them that ride Tail of the Dragon are. But you are very likely to find a few you wouldn't mind crowding over the cliff if you try and drive it on a fall weekend.

what i noticed from the motorcyclists was the salute where they point to the ground. as i was from australia i had never seen this before i had to google it and found it was a symbol of respect i assume for the GMC

Well, I had a pleasant afternoon with Chuck, fiddling with his golf cart charger and bagging ideas from his GMC collection. And learned how to make the washers I need. I came up Ga 52 instead of 129, every bit as beautiful to drive and fewer rice rockets. Sent J R an email, 'don't bother, I got it covered"
