I'm planning to replace my original clearance lights. Optronics has similar and cost-effective triangular replacements available at O'Reilly's and E-Trailer.com which should do the job.

But has anyone found any clearance lights which complement the GMC's curves which are also durable and easy to maintain? If I'm going to have 10 sets of holes in the roof, it should be worthwhile, right?

Thanks for any ideas,
Jim

Maxxima makes a L.E.D.clearance light that is almost exactly the same as the original lights.
They come in amber M20311Y & red M20311R.

Thanks folks. I was wondering if anyone had tried something sleeker than the triangular "school bus" lights.

I bought some at Terminal Supply in Indianapolis.

TL-1155 M/C Triangle Lamp 12V ( - that was the red lamp)

TL-1155A M/C Triangle Lamp 12V-A ( - that was the amber lamp)

The price was 10.95 for each lamp on 2/7/2012

Don't know if you have a Terminal Supply near Alexandria, OH.

Another choice for the clearance lights that I install as replacements is a
truck stop supply company. We have a local company here that handles a led
replacement for the GMC. Exact same shape and hold down bolt pattern. No
new holes to drill, but your anchor bolts will be all rusty and loose and
leak prone. Best to use 3/8" OD rubber well nuts for hold downs. They have
either a brass or stainless steel captive nut in the bottom. Use with
stainless steel hold down bolts, seal them down with a self leveling
sealant, (not silicone) and that is the last time you will ever worry about
them while you own the coach. The name of our local company is Esley Truck
Accessory.

We sell the same ones as the ones Jim B uses on the front.
Defiantly blends in and looks better than the standard look.
We have the replacement in standard and LED on our sight.

I replaced the ugly triangular clearance lights with these rectangular ones from NAPA :

http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/Lamp-Clearance-Marker-LED/_/R-LIT1560_0336431096

They are LED's and I absolutely love them. Very bright, smart looking, come in red and amber. The lamp itself is hermetically sealed, and they plug into a grey mount. You attach the mount to the coach, wire it to the leads coming out of the coach, use clear RTV or some other weatherproof sealing compound and drill two new small holes into the roof thru the mountscrew holes then get some stainless steel sheet metal screws to finish it off. The LED lamp just plugs right into the mount and snaps in place. I've had them on there for 8 years and I only had to replace one lamp. I spread out the spacing of the clearance lamp positions evenly, 5 amber lamps up front, 5 red in the rear. I also lowered the line of lamps closer to the top of the windshields and rear window. I used the same lamps red and amber for my side marker lights. They are great for that at night, very easy to see them in rear view mirrors from the drivers seat.

Browse the NAPA site, they have several other LED marker lamps of different size and shape, you may like another one better.

I have rectangular one on my coach from the PO and I hate them.
I desperately want to go back to triangular or bullet shaped ones!

Or you can put the originals style back on by looking and NAPA part LIT 1155 red and LIT 1155A yellow.

I have these clear lense lights (http://m.ebay.com/itm/5x-Roof-Running-Light-Clearance-lamp-Covers-with-Base-Housing-for-Dodge-Ram-1500-/261926501474?nav=SEARCH) on mine with amber leds in front and red leds in the rear. To me it gives a contemporary look.
