Your concern is justified, however we have not had any fail due to fatigue
from vibration in 10 years we have been supplying them.( sold over 300
pairs)
Should the tire separate, it can catch it and shear off .

I had no trouble with this kit or a similar design on either of the two GMC's that I owned (down to one). It is very nice to be able to isolate the bag in case of a air system failure, or a difficult to find slow leak.
My 4 bag set-up has the cut-offs mounted on the inner fender liner, and I have had no problems with that method either.
Reduce weight on your suspension system by installing JmK's beautiful Eagles or Alcoas. This drops about 30 pounds per wheel immediately. I don't think the little shut-off valve weight would even be noticed in a suspension that was designed for the 16.5" OEM Steel Wheels.

I too was concerned with the valve attached at the air bag. I do realize that many have it installed that way, apparently with no ill effects but it just didn't feel 'right'. I mounted the valve with schrader on the wheel housing and ran the air line to the bags. I suppose the air line could fail and there are now two fittings which are added to the equation that might fail. Not a perfect world I'm afraid.

One more point about the valves: I agree that the valve adds too much
weight to the end of a somewhat delicate plumbing arrangement -- especially
with brass fittings. But that's been well covered; with my 4-bag
manifolds, I went one step farther than anyone's mentioned: It's common to
mount those manifolds on the wheel well liner. Since I didn't like the
prospect of trying to reach them if the bags are deflated, I moved them.
Inside each of the rear doors (Generator and LPG) is where I relocated the
manifolds so that their meters and valves are always accessible, and clean
enough to read.

That's a bit of weight hanging off a moving suspension piece. Possibly I am being overly cautious, but practical
physics tells me not to drive across the country like this unless I have to.

I agree with your concern. I have seen 2 failures. On was on a Black List call one afternoon on a relatively smooth stretch of Interstate where the bag suddenly went flat. I was happy that the weather was good at the time. The piece of pipe entering the air bag snapped completely. I had to remove the bag and take it to the airport where I had the tools to extract the broken piece of pipe from the bag. The other one was a coach where the bag had a slow leak. Tracking down the leak with gas leak detector we found that the pipe into the bag had a slight crack in it which over time might have been an on the road failure like the first one. I do not have shutoffs installed and have never needed them. I carry a pair of schraders for an emergency. I have never used them. If I were to install shutoffs I would mount them somewhere else and run hose to the bags. There are lot of people running them without a problem (so far).

On resting the boogies on blocks of wood. I used two pieces (per side) of 4 X 6, about 12 inches long. Placing them in a "T" formation, they fit perfectly under the boogies and carry the load while the GMC is parked. Just used a floor jack to gently lift the coach about 1/2 " so they would slide under the boogies, then released the jack. Makes for a nice stable platform while working inside the coach.

I crib the bogies with three 4x4s, one on 2. Run the air up, slide them under, and then leave the valves in Lower.
