We are a group with diverse skills and I'm hoping someone can help me. A few years back I made a Metal Shaping 101 DVD. It is in ROXIO GI format (.GI file extension) Some of the introductory material is out of date but the core video of my presentation is fine. I'm hoping someone can tell me that this type of file can be edited somehow and direct me to someone who can help me.

If VLC can play it, it would normally be able to convert it to any other format it can play. Once it is converted, it can be edited.
If you have the DVD, I think VLC can convert the VOB file(s) back to DVD standard MPEG-2 (VOB files are DVD standard MPEG-2 data streams exclusive or'd with a region code key).
