oops, the name is Pelonis, not Pelton! Here is a new one from Amazon that appears to be a redo of the older classic design with variable fan speed and variable heat:

I purchased one of the original for each of our two coaches from eBay a couple of years ago. I think I paid around $50 -60 for them.

Ken,

Take a look at the older Pelton electric furnace that you can still find on eBay and a few NOS. The best of those varied both the fan speed and the heat output to maintain a set temperature so they run only when needed and only as much as needed. An external thermostat is attached to the power cord to measure ambient air a bit away from the heater itself. A degree knob controls the set temp. By varying fan speed and heat output they do a great job of maintaining temperature inside a GMC while plugged into shore power or while the generator is running during mild weather or as an adjunct to the propane furnace. We find them far more comfortable and useful than the typical on/off box heater. You do have to be careful when looking at these, however, as the company changed hands several times and some models turned into nothing more than an on/off box. You want the thermostatically controlled unit that varies both heat output and fans speed.

Mac,

That's a timely suggestion since I've been looking for a replacement.
Big question, unanswered on any box I've seen: Does the thermostat on
your heater control the fan SPEED and will it shut off the fan
completely? I don't like the sound of the darned things running when
not heating.

TIA,

Ken H.
