Here's the link to an eBay store I just discovered:

http://stores.ebay.com/Industrial-stuffs?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

I mention it because it has an unusual selection of instrumentation
items which may be of interest to others:

1. A wide range of pressure senders, and compatible meters.
2. Both 8k and 16k GM Vehicle Speed Sensors, and compatible meters
(NOT feed-through type senders).
3. GPS receivers compatible with both software and their pulse-driven
speedometers.
4. Capacitive fuel level senders, and compatible gauges, which should
be easy to adapt to our fuel tanks.
5. RV AC power adapters.
6. An assortment of VDO (copy?) gauges.

All their prices seem better than average, and they provide more
technical details on each product than usual.

I'm ordering a 1600 psi gauge & sender from them to enable me to
monitor PS pump output (and probably, later, brake line pressure).

That's all I know about them; no previous experience so I don't know
their quality, responsiveness, etc.

Ken H.

The capacitive fuel level sender is very interesting. Reasonable price too.
If I understand the description you cut the shaft to fit the depth of the tank. Looks like you would have to cut a hole in the floor to adjust the the empty and full pots unless you took measurements with tank on the ground? Promising potential.
How deep are the GMC fuel tankes?

Thanks, Ken. I just ordered a 500# gauge, matching transducer and cable. I am going to know, once and for all, what pressures are doing in my transmission. Perfect solution.

Not to be a nay-sayer, and one who is probably looking for some nice (read cheap), but good and reliable gauges for a nonexistent dash, I looked at the set of four "VDO" gauges. Even tho they say VDO on their face, the copy says "VD type". That would concern me...

shot

Guess if I had read all of the copy, they will send true VDO for extra money - go figure

John,

I share your concern; that's why I worded this as it is:

"6. An assortment of VDO (copy?) gauges."

John,

eBay has a good system to get your money back if what is advertized is not what you get.

The best thing to do is ask the vendor this question; "Are these gages genuine VDO?" Before you buy them.

My 500# pressure gauge, wire and sender arrived. All looks of good quality to me. Weatherpack connectors, etc. So far I am well pleased.
