G'day,
I received an email from a fellow GMCer regarding a problem that he had never heard of before and since I hadn't either I decided to
forward it to the GMC Brain Trust for comment.
A friend of mine (fellow GMC owner) told me a story about transmission fluid burping fluid out the dipstick tube and causing fires!
- He said it was much less a problem if you used a "remote" dipstick setup as the fluid would be "burped" out way away from the
headers - But if you used a normal "short" dipstick/tube, it could "burp" out onto the headers - He also said he had seen one "burp"
so hard, it blew the dipstick out of the tube!
I have spoken to Manny about extended transmission dipstick tubes and he noted that the dipstick (along with the vent above the
chain case) vents pressure in the transmission to atmosphere and some of the extended tubes have a cap that seals that tube which
could cause problems.
Comments please especially regarding the burping of fluid out the OEM dipstick tube.
Regards,
Rob M.
