We will pull into GMCMI tomorrow after a beautiful trip through the mountains. We live 38 miles from the Pacific Ocean so climb mountains no matter which way we go. In this case we did the I5 from So. OR to Portland ( five low mountain passes), then up the Columbia River gorge and on to Spokane, WA, thought the mountains in the ID pan handle and over the Rockies in MT. From there it is 600 miles of low and high mountains on into WY and finally SD (tomorrow).

I remain very impressed with this 455 SandJ engine from Spokane, WA. In 1500 miles of this mountain driving we have yet to shift into second gear! Never stressed the engine, never less than 4" vacuum, never over 200 degrees water temp, never at WOT, never less than 50mph, etc. most of the time at 2800 to 3000rpms at 70mph with this 3.67 gearing. It just sings......so far.

My wish is that every GMC would perform as well.....
