Me thinks, from it's appearance, that it's a core -- previously wiped out
by GI's.

What's the salvage price for iron these day?

Maybe not. My sister, the National Guard mechanic, swapped out several nearly pristine very low mileage 6.2L Humvee diesels because the Army went to bigger Humvee engines across the board, and they all needed to be "standard".

She said there were a couple in their junk pile that were fine when dumped, but had been in the weather for several years so probably not any good anymore. And even though they will never use them, it would be jail time to haul them off before the Gov't to decides to hold an auction (which looks unlikely).
