We've had 2 people offer their GMC's so we can go. The first problem is that we can't get Linda, and her wheelchair in the door. The second problem is a place to stay. Looking into getting a motel in Rapids City. The big problem is that we can't find a hotel that has a handy caped room with a real handy caped shower. She needs a bath room that she can run her chair in the shower area so she can transfer to a shower bench. The thing is that in reality we can all use that kind of shower. I like that type because there easier, and safer then getting in and out of a bath tub. A lot less apt to fall due to the high sides, and slipping on the bottom. When was the last time you used a tub to take a bath. Not a shower? The base problem is that almost all room are considered handy caped if they just have bars on the walls in the bath room. A lot of handy caped people can't use bath tubs at all. If she wants to go into any building or place. I have to go first to see if she can even get around inside at all. We can't use the standard handy caped parking spaces in parking lots for her HC van. We can't generally even use HC Van spaces because other HC people with standard cars, and trucks park in the HC Van spaces. When you get a HC sticker, or plate. This is explained on a paper you get. ( But no one reads that.) We need 8 ft on the right side for the ramp of her HC van. Even if we get a van space. We get people that park in the striped area next to our van. So then she can't get in. So to make an attempt to make things simple. Hot, cold, rain, ice, or snow. We have to park at the outer fringes of any parking lots. Then to top that off. People don't expect anything parked out there. An their on their phone. So we end up getting our Chevy Uplander van run into that I paid $69,000. for. FYI. The chair was $16,000. Then for the icing on that cake. No one has ever left their name. So I have to pay for that also. This all started out so simple. She went in to have a knee replaced. Got an infection. Then was given a choice to lose her life. Or a leg. In truth. People in wheelchair end up with more road blocks in their life then the average person can ever imagine. So welcome to my life.
