It needs to be the one that has the kitchen behind the drivers seat. With the wine cabinet to the left of the entry door as you go in. If the drive train isn't in good condition in the next one. I could buy my coach back from State Farm. And use only the body from the next GMC. There is one other way. There is a 78 Royale 3 miles North of me with a new engine. With the kitchen to the left of the door. If I could fine the interior part like the one I had. I could make that work. To widen the door. I will need a 8 inch piece of the top, and bottom door frame. And another used door. If this arson issue isn't resolved. My insurance will not cover my loss. Bob Dunahugh

Bob,

Your last two sentences are a bit confusing, are you saying that State Farm won't pay your claim because it was arson or they won't
pay because you are (as you said in your last email) "I'm the first person of interest in an arson case now?" THAT IS RIDICULOUS!

It's ridiculous to us because we know, either personally or at least through help provided, how good a man Bob is. State Farm probably doesn't have that knowledge. They have to rule out arson and insurance fraud before dispersing money. I'd imagine it will work out once it is investigated. Horrible tragedy doesn't stop bureaucracy unfortunately. Wishing nothing but the best in the outcome here.

My experience with SF is it took us three years and a trip to court to settle a wreck wherein their insured ran a light and t-boned Paula. Witnesses were a local cop and two EMTs who were at the intersection. They settled on court day before the case was called. Under terms of the settlement, I'm not allowed to discuss awards. On Advice (meaning my lawyer said so) I can tell you, "We burned them a brand-new six digit ---hole".
If they don't settle in a timely manner, get a shark, go after them, and don't back off. They need to learn.

I saw somewhere there was a mention of traces of hydrocarbons, well if it was the frig that caused it, I believe it uses ammonia enriched with hydrogen to make it work better.

Bob, I totally agree with johnny on SF. We are currently dealing with them
on a medical/surgical claim. They will drag it out and try to stonewall you.
We finally got a lawyer on the case who used to be a lawyer for SF. They didn't
like that. ...... but I'm not looking for any friends at SF.

You guys are missing the point. What is 2" away from the floor? Think
lower, not higher. 50 gallons worth. Superheated from the fire. That fire

As I understood what Bob said, there was a concentration of "hydrocarbons"
on the interior floor of the coach. The fire marshall postulated that that
concentration was "possibly" a source of an accellerant. As the fuel tank
senders are below that same area, and heat from the fire could easily melt
the hoses and/or the "0" ring on the senders, I speculated that it was one
possible source of the hydrocarbons. It is a huge leap to conclude that the
fire was arson caused merely by the presence of concentrations. I stand by
my initial statement. The fire marshall is overemployed. He has a job. Now
Bob has an uphill battle with the insurance company to accompany the grief
of losing his coach. What a B.S. deal this has to be for them.

I just love bureaucrats Mad .

The coach is full of hydrocarbons. The mere presence of them is not significant. What would have caused the fire to start is the issue. Bob clearly wasn't there when it started and unless they find an ignition device they are not going to be able to prove or even allege arson.

I carry a few quarts of oil and trans fluid in the cabinet under the fridge, this would cause HC residue too.

SF is actually one of the "better" companies. However they are going through an internal makeover where people are being repositioned into areas they know little about and therefore having to be retrained while doing the job. This adds time and aggravation to all claims processing. Keep us posted. Did you have agreed value with SF. My agent didn't want to do that but does have the appraisal on file. Maybe time to sharpen the pencil.

I have to wonder how many RV fires the fire marshall has looked at. Ever one of them will have hydrocarbon residue after a fire, from both construction materials and contents. For instance, what's the insulation foam made of? What's the carpet made of? What's in the cabinets? Etc. Sounds like a combination of CYA and job justification to me.
