About 2 weeks ago, while running A/C units using the Onan 6kw in my '78, the output suddenly stopped, while the Onan kept running. I removed the Bridge Rectifier in the Onan and measured the values. According to the manual, the values were all bad.

Installed a new BR from Applied and it started up. I let it warm up for 5 minutes with no load, then turned on one of the A/C units. It bogged down initially for a second when it was in fan position. When I went to Hi Cool, the A/C unit sounded like it was too much of a draw, and the Onan was dragging down, to the point where it sounded like it was going to stall. I turned off the A/C unit and it recovered. I then tried the other, newer A/C unit, and the same thing happened.

I have one of those cheapy A/C voltage meters you plug into the wall outlet. The needle was swinging all over the place, not showing any steady output. Even with the A/C units off, it still varied quite a bit.

So, what am I looking at next ? Worn brushes ?
