I was ready to tear into my powerlevel controls because one side would not raise. Newly discovered after getting a functional/automatic air compressor and then troubleshooting the next round...
Pulling it apart, discovered how it works (ramp pushes one of the three valves) and that a PO or mechanic lost a spring washer that sits between the knob itself and the retaining bolt, and it simply wasn't pushing hard enough on valve. Never would have figured this out if both springs had been lost. Anyone have an unused spring they will drop in the mail to me (Please PM), or know where to find a replacement? Ace Hardware, HD, Lowes, etc trips left me thinking this is not generic.

The bigger Ace Hardware stores in my area usually have a selection of things like that. I think I would start there. Also, Many people have upgraded to the JR Slaten brass valves (http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/738) and may have a set of the old valves around. Maybe you can find someone willing to part with the whole assembly that you can rob for parts. Applied also sells a repair kit for the original valves (http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/953)

Sir, I have run across plastic knobs worn enough that they would not push the brass button enough.

Ha - yep, just looking for a 50 cent washer with an envelope really...I don't have a micrometer to figure out dimensions for McMaster carr, might still go that route. Someone that has time to pull one and a micrometer might tell me the dimensions to determine which one from this page to order

Chuck's idea about worn plastic knob ramps I verified out by swapping the one spring and both sides work fine if they are the side with the spring.
I looked in the parts book, page 14-6, no love.

Donors or measurers hoped for... Any measuring stick that is graduated in 32nds will tell you what you need to know. 1/32" is about .030. 64ths are half that. If you got good eyes, either natural or lens enhanced, you can interpolate the 1/16" graduations of a tape measure to 64ths.
Order a variety of them and use the best match when they arrive.
