Efi Kit's offer Timing Control and it seems we have several options to do this.

Has anyone tried any of the below items or do you find timing control does not work?

1. Oldsmobile 455 and 403 (MSD 6al and computer distributor?)
2. Oldsmobile 403 and 455 (Oldmobile 307) 7 Pin computer control distributor (No vacuum advance)
3. Oldsmobile 403 and 455 (Oldmobile 403 Misar Crank Trigger with or without Misar control box) (Tornado 77)
4. MSD or Edelbrock Crank Trigger kit?

If you have tried these above items what are your results?

These answers relate to the answers to your six questions asked earlier.

The EBL EFI system uses #2. THe EBL spark control is integrated with fuel so it is more like modern computer controlled vehicles. For instance, when the computer deems it suitable to go into Lean Cruise (16.4 or more to 1 air fuel rather than the standard 14.7:1) the spark is advanced 4-5 degrees because lean mixtures take longer to get the fire going.

Atomic can be set up for #2 or MSD. Atomic spark control is like a distributor that is well curved and has a perfect set of weights and vacuum pot.

I think a couple of caddy engine coaches have crank trigger kits.

Knock sensors allow a more aggressive timing that is retarded when knocking is detected.

Knock Sensor?

Which EFi supports Knock sensor?

I am installing 3 different efi kits on 3 different GMC's and trying to figure out which is best optional parts for each.

1st one is getting Holley Terminator with 307 distributor so far the plan (Fuel system not sure)
2nd one is getting Msd Atomic system (have distributor MSD and 6al but not sure if that is better or another 307 compcontrol.
3rd one Edelbrock EFI street (same issue 307 comp control or something else and fuel (edelbrock sump pump)

each of these is early on but I plan on installing each but wanted opinions of what people have installed or added etc.

For integrated knock control Megasquirt 3 EFI has that as an option. http://www.msextra.com/ For windowed sensing individual cylinder retard Applied has J&S Safeguard that works stand alone. http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/1154 We have both installed. They "hear" different.
