Short one, 60 miles one way to a four day show sans dog - working this one. The good - coach now runs smoothly, pins the 175 bar on the trans and temp sections of the DigiPanel, up hill and down. New fan clutch roars when the engine gets loaded on a hill. Icebox fans in the vent keep the icebox working well....half of the cold setting freezes ice. They make a quiet hum if you're in bed with the A/C off. Both fuel pumps work, as shown by running several miles on MAIN and several on AUX. Stalling at startup from lights is gone. Idles reliably for traffic lights, trans temp goes up a flicker of the next bar. I Stuff it in neutral, temp stays 175, same as engine. A/C replacement switch works properly, heat/cool toggle also works. Window leaks appear to have stopped, recommended caulk works. Plumbing repairs are holding. Brakes stop it, it will nosedive when you get into the discs without skidding in back. New power distributions, AC and DC work nicely. Water heater and A/C can run together off a 50 amp conversion plug to the 30 I'm using. I have the two inputs jumped pending installation of a 50 amp shore cable and genset finish. Fina genset parts (Pulse pump and flex hose) appeared during the trip. Bearing temps had no asymmetry, on arriving home, mids hotter than rears, fronts slightly less (I can hit the knuckle and not the disc in front), everything symmetrical side to side.
The bad - hard starting, it floods. I may need a regulator for even the 'carburetor' fuel pumps. Once started, runs fine. Alternator is dying, Egypt, dying. Low charge on initial start to leave, Stopped and restarted, it made its rated current. Leaving the show site this afternoon, very hard cranking, only about 15 amp charge. Eventually this got the battery completely charged, and headlights will get a meter displacement and return to 1 - 2 amp charge. Testing and possible rebuild in the offing... I think the brushes are going Dixie. Easy fix.
I propose to observe the carb with the cleaner off and pumps running to see if it's weeping gas past the needle valve. Compression check. Have the carb built (it's due)and add a regulator if it then needs one. Then off to Augusta, Annie's Town and Chattanooga, then the do-it-yourself rally in The Mouse this December. I'm picking SonicJK's project for ideas, interior upgrades are about next.
