Made it back from Jim K's place, my oil leak looks like just valve covers,
and my exhaust leak is just a crummy car muffler somebody put on. Needs
tires. Front suspension, brakes, PS, fuel, tranny all pretty stable.
Jim is sure the miles are 38k and not 138k.

First two things I'm digging in to:

The rear of this coach does come up to level when set to "travel", and it
will go higher if set to "raise".... There is a red warning panel that
lights up "please set to travel" when first shifted to drive, then it goes
off, then it comes back a couple minutes later and doesn't go off again.
Would prefer to fix rather than simply disable the warning. Clues?

I seem to be getting 12.8 volts across the battery while idling with no
lights on, though alternator looks newish. I drove it 30 minutes on the
highway bringing it back from Jim K's place, and the engine died as I
entered my parking lot, I literally coasted to a stop without power
steering or brakes, angled across three parking spaces.... :) If she's
always that nice to me when she breaks down we're going to get along just
fine...

no help on the warning lights.

But thats got to be some Karma there, I can only think of about 4-5 places in the country I would be fine "stalling" as I entered the parking lot, and you got one of them.

Loss of power brakes when engine stalls is scary. You only get one very hard push left, no feathering the brakes.
I suggest that you install one of the JC4 auxiliary vacuum pumps. This will solve the problem. There are other solutions, but basically you need vacuum to operate the power brakes.
JmK has them. Or, hunt in the men's malls for them. Very easy install.

Troy,

I had that problem a very long time ago and as I recall, it was the adjustment of a switch that is on the steering column not far from the ignition switch, but it is across the column instead of along it. Mine had loose screws and all I had to do was get it right and tighten it down.

Yes wiggle the shift lever, see if that fixes it Smile

if you lower the coach then set to level does the rear come up at all?
If not your leveling valves are probably bad.
But first check all your air lines and make sure some Previous Owner didnt cut or mess up anything

I'm at a show through Sunday, and next week through Sunday is full, but I have a solution which replaces the 'set power level' light mechanical timer module with an electronic settable one. It works on the bench, I will prove it in my coach week after, then they're six bux plus postage. Or you can buy the module from wangwangqi in China via ebay and roll your own. Module is less than 3 us, shipping was about six for ten of them.
