The GMCWS Fall rally will be held in Pueblo, Colorado from Sept. 17-21, ending just 4 days before the GMCMI rally in Rapid City, South Dakota and only 500 miles away. We have just posted the tentative rally schedule that includes a three part seminar on rebuilding the THM425 transmission by Manny, and seminars by Kerry Pinkerton and Ken Henderson. The transmission that Manny will rebuild will be raffled off but you must be present to win. Read about it at http://gmcws.org/blog/?p=3577.

Looks like a fun rally. Unfortunately we won't be able to make it. Kathy has a trip all planned out to Moab and Salt Lake City from 9/22 - 10-3. So close! Maybe we'll catch some of you on your way home.

Armand -

So long as someone present walks up with the winning ticket and hauls the trans away, does it matter what they do with it thereafter? I'm not beyond sending some bux with a friend on the chance of winning it and bringing it home for me. I could buy one off Manny for what it would cost me to run the coach there and back though.

I don't know how it is going to work but I don't recall hearing anything about buying tickets. I thought it was going to be anyone that is at the rally but don't know for sure.

Johnny,

If, by some weird twist of fate, you happen NOT to win it, remember that
Manny has a 425 setting in my shop, ready for installation. :-)

I'm aware and (knocking fake wood) I don't need one at the moment, mine shifts nicely and doesn't slip or get hot. However, all good things come to an end at some point, and a shot at a Manny rebuild for 50 or a hundred donation is a good bet.
I would of bought the engine the guy was touting on Facebook if it had motorhome pistons and J heads. Same reason. I have a spare a-929 TorqueFlite, Garrett rebuild set up to boogie in the garage awaiting whatever I do with the A-body wagon. Haven't decided do I do a Dutra /6 or build an LA engine to stuff in front of the trans. I'm leaning toward the /6 because a) they're unbreakable, and b) exhaust manifolds for LA engines in A-bodies (this is a '65) cost a fortuna if/when you can find them. Not to mwention, the little wagon has a 7" 2:73 rear end which would go Dixie very quickly behind a modestly hot LA engine.

It is my understanding that some lucky rally attendee who is present at the time of the drawing will win the transmission. Tickets will NOT be purchased.

Fair enough, thanks! A bit too far for me unfortunately. Do it again in Dothan?
