We have rust particles plugging up the shower head. Can this problem be solved by replacing the anode in the hot water tank? Or are we in for a new hot water tank. The hot water tank is the six gallon round tank with the blue ends located behind the wet bath in our 1978 Palm Beach.

I recently helped a friend replace the anode. It was resistant and took some work to get the old one out. But, the symptoms were blackish hot water and the water smelled like rotten eggs.
Did you perhaps hook up to a water system that had not been run in a while and sucked in rusty water?

George, although we don"t have the symptoms you described for an anode replacement; we do fill the water tank at camp grounds when travelling. We flushed the water system this morning, after reading your reply, and have solved the problem.
