Took the motorhome back to storage today. My brother followed behind. Once we got there he asked if I was using turn signals or brakes. Yes I said. Well, I did not have brake lights or rear turn signals. I may have possibly driven 1700 miles without them working.
Front turn signals work fine. I'll have to check fuses tomorrow and add checking all the lights on my preflight before next trip. After reading the cruise control thread and a response to cleaning the brake switch makes me wonder if there is any connection to my two problems. Brake lights/turn signals and cruise control.
Problems I encountered round trip from Michigan to South Hamilton, MA.
Cruise intermittent
Fridge, turned out to be a fuse. Remembered the Norcold 3 way won't run on AC without DC.
Left side exhaust donut leak, replaced. Left exhaust manifold leaking.
Higher then normal engine/tranny temps. Probably fan clutch problem.
Generator died after 11 hours. Cleaned carb, jumpered as suggested by Jim Bounds. Still dies after 20 min or 5 min or 10 min. No Air conditioning all the way home. Not good for my 7 passengers. Dash AC worked ok.
Tolls on NY thruway. $51 each way; Ouch!! Ohio and MA $10
Black water tank leak.
Minor, I guess vapor lock, between 25-30 mph. This seems to happen a lot. Maybe not vapor lock and something else. All fuel for the trip had 10 percent ethanol but seems to do it regardless of fuel mixture.
Today, I can relate to each of the threads on the GMCnet lately. But I'm still having fun and loving the GMC motorhome.
Please continue providing all your expertise so all these problems can be resolved prior to next trip.
Thanks

The brake and turn signal lights and cruise have the turn signal switch in common. The turn signals should not be affected by the brake light switch.

Mike,
The turn signals and brake lights all go through the signal switch in the column. There is a single connector on the column that could be the problem.
The stop lights and cruise are different parts of the same switch on the brake pedal. If you have to change it out, I have the tools required.
Going across New York with a GMC? Do Not take the NYTW. Do the Lower Tier and save a bundle. (372+51$ vs 406 and better scenery)5
It sounds like we will have a lot to talk about when we meet tomorrow.

Install the Remflex exhaust gasket per instructions, especially the torque limits. Do not torque the center top bolt, just make it tight. It will tilt the exhaust manifold towards the top and open up the bottom. Re-torque after driving the coach and getting the engine through a heat cycle.
