He didn't get on GMCnet very often but many of you knew of Jim and his GMC
projects. He was at GMCMI Shawnee a few years ago and showed many of us
photos of his continuing one ton front end project.

We lost a very good friend Wednesday morning. Jim Rountree of San Antonio
passed away at 83 after a very long and courageous fight with cancer.

Services for Jim will be held Monday, August 3rd at 2PM at

Colonial Hills United Methodist Church

5247 Vance Jackson

San Antonio, TX 78230

An avid GMCer for many, many years, he has spent a great deal of time
helping and coaching other GMC owners in all aspects of ownership. He will
be sorely missed by everyone who had the privilege to know him. The entire
GMC community has lost a treasure.

May he rest in peace with eternally smooth running EFI and a purring Onan.

Billy

I sure hate to hear that. I didn't know he was sick. I met Jim at the Branson rally a couple years ago and a couple things were immediately obvious:

1- He knew a lot about GMCs.
2- He was a really nice guy.

I thought he would be at the Patterson rally but obviously he was sick.

Sad day.

G'day,

Jim was a master fabricator; he installed a complete Chevy (IIRC) front suspension system on his GMC. It had forged upper and lower
control arms, twin piston calipers, etc. It was a work of art! IIRC he gave a presentation on it at the Shawnee Convention.

Very sorry to hear this. I met Jim a few years ago when I delivered a generator to him as a stopover on it's way to Rob Mueller. He showed me his various GMC projects including a stretch he was working on and the Chevy truck front suspension he had installed. He was sick at the time but had a positive attitude about it and seemed reasonably robust at the time. He was a very talented and knowledgeable man and a really nice guy.
