I think we need to be a bit careful here. The poster did not say he was looking for a GMC, he said he was specifically looking for an original, unmolested Palm Beach. He had spotted one in Chicago that seemed from the photos and owner description to meet his aesthetic interests that appears to have Alcoa wheels, a Honda generator, a bunch of relatively new systems, a good headliner and upholstery, reasonable mileage and, from the pics, apparently a very caring and nurturing owner. A couple of the small photos looked like there might have been some touch up paint that was not a good color match, but a call to the owner would quickly clear up whether that was a photographic artifact or for real.

Because he is new to GMCs he asked this forum what a fair price would be. He got some good feedback and price suggestions all over the place but also enough caution talk that it sounds like he has been scared away from a coach that just might be what he is looking for. I am not sure we are doing him any favors with our caution talk until someone puts eyeballs on that coach for him. If it is as good an original Palm Beach as it appears to be, then five years from now he won’t remember much about the purchase price, but will remember all the fun he and his family have had driving the coach they want. If he continues to search for some kind of perfect Palm Beach with no purchase risk what so ever (no such thing) at a sub $20k price (highly unlikely), five years from now he might still be looking and have never experienced the fun of GMC ownership. I think we owe the potential new buyers a more balanced approach.

My POV anyway.

Thanks Jerry. The good news is that, while a lesser person (read that "smarter person") may have been scared away, I remain determined. Smile

The good news is that I have been contacted and have 3 to 4 other very promising leads on coaches that may meet my needs as well or better than the one in the pictures I posted.

So far the information and feedback from this site has been invaluable and greatly appreciated. Hopefully I can join the ranks soon and start making one "my own".
