I wonder if anyone ever used the roof as a patio type of area? After
all, it gives a nice elevated view of the surroundings, as well as maybe
provide a more secluded chilling space with some "fencing"?
Thoughts/Pics/Ideas are welcome.

Distance between beam is quite large. I do not like walking upthere. I would make walking corridors if I was going to use the roof at all

Two GMCs used to do the races at Talladega. Both had reinforced patio roofs. Used in the infield for race watching and parties. I never did see them, but I talked to one of the owners at a rally one time.
The U.S. Air Force had several (unknown #) Transmodes converted by Wolf. Used as commo vans on missile ranges. They had reinforced roofs for the cameras and antenna systems. Two Onans were installed, one on both sides, no propane. One was sold several years ago at a Air Force disposal auction. Purchaser got it several miles from the auction site before it died. Again, I don't know the status of this vehicle now.

There are one or two a year that show up on craigslist, usually some variation of a tailgater or infield viewing platform. The nicest, as far as functionality is concerned, was in Lexington or Lville KY about a year ago. It had an aluminum deck with pop-up railings. Did the job, but ruined the aesthetics.

Peer,
I'm 12 hours late, but yes, I have such a platform. The 2nd previous
owner of our Palm Beach spent his winters I Florida and liked to go
to the races. He wanted to sit on the roof in his lawn chair. Since
he was a rather large heavy individual, he had Tom Hampton fit
a sheet of 1/8" aluminum checker plate on the roof. I wanted to
put a storage pod up there, so I had to remove it. Another bit
of clutter in the garage. Oh yes, almost forgot. Also wanted to
install the Fantastic Fan in the bathroom.

Supposedly a lot of the new guys are talking about something called heavy pod syndrome. That's where theres too much weight on the roof, and bows out the sides where the door does not line up with the body when closed. I'm not qualified to to remark on this.
As far as sitting on the top, I'm also not qualified to give a opinion on that. I always fall off. Now I must move my blender to the 1st floor, and watch sunset on TV........

That seems to make sense but so far that doesn't seem to be the cause of fat ass roof sag.
